What is Transponder?

Transponder is a network service that allows you to watch almost all UK Freesat (free to air) television as it is being broadcast. We have been providing commercial network services since 2006.

At launch of the consumer service there are 118 of the most popular channels, allowing users to select from the wide range of high quality British free to air TV channels, and view it in HD quality (where available and subject to individual network limitations) on as many devices as they wish in the comfort of their own homes, wherever they are.

How does Transponder do this?

Transponder does not stream content to users which is now illegal, but instead allows users to connect to their own individually allocated remote receivers, which are situated in the UK, tune into their selected channel and then view from wherever they are on their laptop, tablet, desktop, mobile or chromecast devices.

And not being a VPN (Virtual Private Network), users will not be blocked from accessing content.

Is Transponder free?

Yes there will always be a wide choice of free content subject to fair usage limitations, and free trial of the full service is available. However, we hope that you enjoy the service enough to subscribe for full access at extremely modest cost (see below)

What is your free plan?

Our free plan offers a selection of 20 of the best British channels including BBC2, Channel5, BBC News, ITV3 and 4Seven, for free, at lower video quality than our paid plans. It has no ability to create or watch recordings. Whereas our paid plans have better quality video, recording, premium bandwidth to minimise buffering, HD channels (coming soon), Watch recordings offline (beta)

How much will subscription cost?

There is a free plan, and we have plans starting from the equivilant of just £1 per week. Any payments will appear as Transponda Corporation on your card statement.

Are my card details safe?

Yes! The window you put your card details in is on our highly secure payment processors servers. They store your details using heavy encryption. Transponder.TV has no access to your card details. We simply instruct our payment gateway to bill you at the requested interval. You can cancel at any time from your account.

Why do I have to register my email details?

The service we provide allocates individual remote reception equipment to every individual user, so to ensure we can provide a first rate viewing service, we need to provide the required equipment and make sure that only you have access.

Do you require my credit card details for the trial?

No. Just as we ask you to trust us, we trust you to act responsibly and fairly.

I have good Internet speed, however it keeps freezing?

Sorry that you are experiencing a screen freezing of the service. We pride our service as being the best quality possible as we run at extremely low bandwidth to optimise the experience. We have in general very strong positive feedback but with occasionalbuffering or freezing we cannot control things like type of processor you are using and memory drive, also although your WIFI may be a good strong signal sometimes the amount of users or devices connected can effect the performance and we can only suggest you try another device or alternative WIFI or 3G/4G and see if the problem persists.

Some streams play slowly or suffer from stuttering. What can I do?

Please check your internet connection and try again. If your internet connection is OK, it's probable that the streaming is reaching its maximum bandwidth capacity. Unfortunately, can not do anything to solve this for you. Some buffering problems can be improved by rebooting your router.

Error loading media: File could not be played
Error loading player: No playable sources found
These errors usually mean the video stream you are trying to watch is currently unavailable, please choose another channel or try later.

Currently you can cast directly from the Chrome browser (Chromecast Setup). You need to instal the chrome cast plug in and then the icon will appear in the top right hand side of your browser then cast directly anything you browse for including ( Adding the Cast button to the Chrome toolbar).

We are working on making both our planned Apps fully Chromecast compatible.
